Panels 19-21 - The Prodigal receives his inheritance
In the central panel of the topmost register, the Prodigal stands on the right in rich robes, his arms already loaded with the gold coins his father is handing over to him. On the left his elder brother carries instead a basket containing the morning's bread (?) and being scolded by his mother. The two small lateral panels also contrast the two brothers' lots. On the left, despite the damage one can still clearly see a cow awaiting the elder brother's attention in the field, whilst on the right a camel waits tethered at a post, ready to carry the prodigal off on his adventures.
